Looking for roommate quickly
Room for rent | West Canterbury Road, St. Louis, MO, USA
My current roommate is moving out but the lease renews somewhat soon and I'd rather not take on the full financial weight of the apartment as well as simply preferring having someone else in the place rather than not. I mostly stick to either my room or the living room keeping primarily to myself but not hard [REDACTED] is yours" type of thing with the only real exceptions being emotional keepsakes and my computer since I use it for work. If you do need to use anything of mine though all I ask is that you let me know, even if it's after the fact. Just to be clear this includes food, drink, cleaning products, whatever so long as you let me know or ask in some way. There is a laundry facility, a pool, a gym, I pay for pretty dang high speed internet, have a good amount of gaming consoles and a nice TV, as well as furnishing for at least the living room and the kitchen. I can't guarantee your room will be furnished as I'm not sure what all my current roommate is taking with him. I can guarantee there will be a desk in your room should you want it kept since I bought it. The parking is free generally but you can apply to rent a garage and the apartment itself is within walking distance of plenty so that's a plus as well as being very close to several bus stops should that be your preferred mode of transportation. There is a lot of grass and trees so you get a decent amount of fresh air for being essentially in the city. All around a great place to live in my opinion. Some small caveats are that I prefer it cool so it'll always be set fairly low if I have the opportunity to do so so please either ask to change it or just get a blanket or jacket or space heater. Also I don't have anything close to a consistent sleep schedule so if you hear someone moving about at night or talking in the apartment it's very likely just me going about my business. Feel free to ask me to quiet down or use headphones should I be disruptive at all.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rooms for Rent in St. Louis, MO
How many rooms for rent are available in St. Louis, MO right now?
Roomster currently shows 33 active rooms for rent across St. Louis. That inventory spans the Grove, Central West End, Soulard, Lafayette Square, Shaw, Tower Grove, Benton Park, and surrounding areas like Clayton, Maplewood, and Kirkwood, with renters often comparing neighborhoods based on MetroLink access, walkability, and commute to Boeing, Centene, or downtown jobs. Fresh room listings move quickly when they include parking, furnished setup, or flexible lease terms.
What are the best St. Louis neighborhoods to rent a room?
That depends on lifestyle and budget. The Grove and Central West End appeal to renters who want walkable, vibrant neighborhoods with restaurants, bars, and arts venues. Soulard and Benton Park offer historic character and a lively social scene near Anheuser-Busch. Lafayette Square and Shaw attract professionals and students (SLU, WashU) who value quiet, tree-lined streets and community feel. Clayton, Maplewood, and Kirkwood work well for those prioritizing suburban convenience and quick highway access.
How much does a room for rent cost in St. Louis?
Across current Roomster listings, room rent in St. Louis typically ranges from $450-$800/month depending on neighborhood, amenities, and house size. Central West End, the Grove, and Clayton often run toward the higher end ($650-$800); Soulard, Shaw, and Tower Grove tend to offer better value ($450-$620). Parking, a private bathroom, furnished status, and proximity to MetroLink or downtown usually account for the largest price differences.
Can I find furnished or short-term rooms in St. Louis?
Yes. Furnished and flexible-lease room listings appear regularly on Roomster, especially in Central West End, Clayton, the Grove, and near WashU and SLU campuses where corporate relocations, medical residents (BJC HealthCare, Mercy Health), and university visitors drive steady demand for move-in-ready spaces. Those listings often include utilities or WiFi. Just confirm exactly what is included - parking, furniture condition, laundry access, and lease length - before committing.
What should I check before renting a room in St. Louis?
In St. Louis, confirm MetroLink station proximity, parking availability, whether utilities are included, laundry access, pet rules, and noise levels before you commit. That matters even more if you're comparing the Grove or Central West End (walkable but busier) with Lafayette Square or Shaw (quieter but more residential). Distance to WashU, SLU, BJC HealthCare, or I-64 usually matters more to daily life than neighborhood prestige.
What is the best rooms for rent app in St. Louis, MO?
Roomster is one of the top options for finding rooms for rent in St. Louis, MO. With ID screening, filters for budget, location, and neighborhood preference, and direct messaging with hosts, it helps you navigate the St. Louis room market efficiently without broker friction or hidden fees.

FAQs About Rooms for Rent in St. Louis County, MO
How much should I budget for a room in St. Louis County, MO?
Budgeting depends on the neighborhood, privacy level, and whether the room is furnished or includes utilities. Generally, private rooms cost more than shared ones, and furnished rooms or utilities included options may have higher rents but simplify monthly expenses.
Is it better to rent a private room or a shared room in St. Louis County, MO?

What should I ask before renting a room in St. Louis County, MO?
Ask about lease terms, utilities included, house rules, move-in dates, roommate preferences, and whether the room is furnished. Also, inquire about deposits, payment methods, and if ID or address checks are part of the listing process.
When should I start searching for rooms for rent in St. Louis County, MO?
Start your search at least 30 to 60 days before your intended move-in date to have a good selection and time to review options. Availability can vary, so checking frequently and responding quickly helps secure the best fit.
