Seeking 3rd Roommate - East Austin

Kiralık oda | East Austin, Austin, TX, USA

I currently reside in a fairly large 3-bedroom house in East Central Austin, pretty close to the Sahara Lounge. A friend of mine is currently living here with me, and we're searching for a 3rd roommate to round out the house. The cost for rent is hundred fifty dollars per month (All Bills Paid). A deposit of hundred fifty dollars plus the first month's rent will be required upon move-in. Flexibility regarding collection of the deposit is very possible, but must be paid in full within three months of move-in. Additionally, I expect at least three months’ notice before you plan to move out. The bedroom measures ten feet by twelve feet, with an 8-foot ceiling. The private bathroom and two closet spaces are all 8 feet tall as well. There is carpet flooring only in the bedroom and closet areas, and tile flooring in all other areas of the house. We strive to maintain good Kitchen and Living Room (Shared Area) cleanliness around the house. Bedroom and bathroom areas are private, but we keep the kitchen and community/shared living room areas clean and organized. There is no tobacco smoking in the house, and pets are (sadly) not allowed. The shared space areas of the house are fully furnished, but you will need to furnish the bedroom yourself, as well as provide your own cookware and dishware. Other amenities of the house include a clothes washer and dryer (inside and readily accessible), a fire-pit area behind the house, and adequate attic and crawl-space areas for additional storage above and below the house itself. We are searching for a third roommate to move in anytime moving forward beginning on Tuesday, January sixth, twenty twenty . Negotiating a later move-in date (no later than early March) is possible if you can't move in right away, so feel free to be up-front about your moving situation. If you are interested in viewing the room, please respond to this ad to schedule a meeting. Many Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you!Jimmy

  • How many rooms for rent are available in Austin, TX right now?

Roomster currently shows 253 active rooms for rent across the Austin search area. That inventory usually spans South Austin, East Austin, North Austin, Hyde Park, Mueller, Riverside, West Campus, Round Rock, and Pflugerville, because many renters search the broader metro instead of one tight neighborhood. Fresh room listings move quickly here when they include parking, furnished setup, or easy access to major commute corridors.

  • What are the best Austin neighborhoods to rent a room?

That depends on the kind of Austin you want. South Austin, South Congress, Zilker, and East Austin appeal to renters who want a more central and social setup. Hyde Park, North Loop, West Campus, and Riverside stay active for students and early-career renters, while The Domain, North Austin, Mueller, Round Rock, and Pflugerville work well for people who care more about commute convenience, newer housing, and easier highway access.

  • How much does a room for rent cost in Austin?

Across current Roomster listings, the average monthly room rent in Austin is about $863.06. Rooms near Downtown, South Congress, Zilker, East Austin, West Campus, and The Domain often run above that average, while parts of North Austin, Riverside, outer South Austin, Round Rock, and Pflugerville can offer better value. Parking, a private bath, and whether the room is furnished usually make the biggest pricing difference.

  • Can I find furnished or all-bills-paid rooms in Austin?

Yes. Furnished and all-bills-paid room listings show up regularly on Roomster, especially around West Campus, Riverside, North Austin, The Domain, and relocation-friendly suburbs like Round Rock and Pflugerville. Those listings tend to work well for UT students, interns, short-term moves, and people who want predictable monthly costs. Just compare what is actually included, especially parking, WiFi, laundry, and utility caps.

  • What should I check before renting a room in Austin?

In Austin, confirm parking, laundry, utility split, pet rules, and commute time to I-35, MoPac, SH-183, SH-71, or CapMetro routes before you commit. That matters even more if you need access to Downtown, UT Austin, The Domain, South Austin, or East Austin. A room that looks affordable online can feel much less convenient once traffic and parking become part of daily life.

Rooms for Rent in Austin, TX: A Commute-Savvy Guide to Finding Your Next Room

If you're searching for rooms for rent in Austin, TX, this guide is designed to help you find a room that fits your lifestyle and budget while keeping your commute manageable. Whether you're new to the city or relocating within the area, understanding your options—from private and shared rooms to utilities-included offers—can make your search smoother and more successful.

What Makes Austin, TX a Good Place to Rent a Room

Austin attracts a diverse group of renters including students, young professionals, and creatives, all looking for flexible living arrangements. Rooms for rent here often range from private to shared options, with many listings offering utilities included to simplify budgeting. Depending on your lifestyle, you might prioritize proximity to downtown, access to public transit, or a quieter neighborhood. Austin's varied housing styles, including house shares and subleases, provide options to suit different budgets and preferences.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Austin, TX

Start by considering your commute needs and budget. Focus on neighborhoods that balance affordability with convenient access to your work or school. Look for listings specifying room type, such as private or shared rooms, and amenities like utilities included or short-term leases. Filtering by public transit access can also save time and reduce transportation costs. Don’t forget to check if the listing fits your roommate preferences and lease flexibility.

  • Check for rooms near downtown Austin if you want urban convenience.
  • Consider house shares for a more social, budget-friendly option.
  • Use filters for utilities included to avoid unexpected expenses.
  • Look for short-term or sublease rooms if you need flexibility.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room

When comparing rooms for rent, pay attention to the lease terms, including move-in dates and security deposits. Budget carefully—not just rent but also potential costs like credit checks or additional fees. Decide whether a private room or shared room suits your privacy needs and lifestyle. Also, inquire about utilities included in rent, as this can affect your monthly budget and simplify bill payments.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Austin, TX

Be cautious about payment methods—never pay cash without a receipt or before signing a lease. Use Roomster’s ID check and address check features when possible to help confirm listing legitimacy. Arrange to meet roommates or landlords in safe, public locations or via video calls before committing. Watch out for listings with vague descriptions or unusually low prices, which can be red flags.
