Basement for Rent
Habitación en alquiler | Fort Collins, CO, USA
Fully furnished basement/ room for rent with private bar area (sink, counter, fridge, dishes, utensils, some plug-in appliances, etc.), bathroom, and mostly private workspace/ living area. Fully functional space that is already set up and move-in ready. What you see pictured is what is included. It is about 750 square feet of space. Basic cleaning/ upkeep of your space is expected. You are welcome to schedule a time to borrow the washer/dryer upstairs (generally easiest to have a set day of the week that is always yours, but we are flexible with logistics). Pets will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The house has two dogs and a cat that live upstairs, so it is dependent on compatibility. Guests must have pre-approval to enter the house because the front entrance is shared. We have young kids and are wary of people we don’t know around them. This is a mostly private basement space. We are down in the utility closet for things like changing filters, turning off water for projects, and seasonal decorations. We just go into the utility closet that has an entrance right next to the stairway, we will not be hanging out in that space at all. Close to Trader Joe's, trails, and Horsetooth Lake. 10 to 15-minute drive or bike ride to the CSU campus. No smoking or vaping of any kind. $1300 with utilities included for a single person. About us: We are a young family looking for someone to rent the basement space. Kids and pets live here, and we strive to foster a safe and welcoming home environment. The space is mostly private, but the front entrance is shared, and the utility closet is downstairs. If you have any questions, please reach out!

Preguntas frecuentes
How many rooms for rent are available in Fort Collins, CO right now?
Roomster currently shows 33 active rooms for rent across Fort Collins. That inventory spans Old Town, Campus West near Colorado State University, University Park, Midtown along College Avenue, the Harmony Corridor, Rigden Farm, and Fossil Creek, with renters often weighing the commute to CSU or the tech corridor, monthly budget, and winter heating costs. Move-in-ready rooms with parking, heat included, or bike access tend to go quickly in this northern Colorado market, especially before fall semester.
What are the best Fort Collins neighborhoods to rent a room?
It depends on commute and lifestyle. Old Town brings walkable historic streets, breweries, and the MAX bus line. Campus West and University Park sit closest to Colorado State University, popular with students. Midtown along College Avenue offers a wide mix near shopping and the MAX, while the Harmony Corridor, Rigden Farm, and Fossil Creek draw renters who want newer homes near the tech employers and quieter streets.
How much does a room for rent cost in Fort Collins?
Across current Roomster listings, room rent in Fort Collins generally runs $700-$1,100/month depending on neighborhood, amenities, and home size. Rooms in Old Town, near CSU, and in newer south-side communities can sit toward the higher end; areas farther from campus and along the edges of town often stretch your budget further. A private bathroom, parking, heat included, furnished status, and bike or MAX access usually explain most of the price difference in this market.
Can I find furnished or short-term rooms in Fort Collins?
Yes. Furnished and flexible-lease rooms appear regularly on Roomster, especially near Colorado State University, Front Range Community College, and the Harmony tech corridor where students, travel healthcare workers, and people relocating to northern Colorado drive steady demand for move-in-ready space. Those listings often bundle utilities or WiFi - a real help through a cold Front Range winter. Just confirm what comes with the room - parking, furniture, laundry access, and lease length - before you sign.
What should I check before renting a room in Fort Collins?
In Fort Collins, weigh the commute to CSU or the Harmony Corridor by car, the MAX bus, Transfort, or bike path, whether heat and utilities are included, parking and snow removal, laundry access, pet rules, and the lease term before committing. Because winters are cold and Fort Collins is a bike-friendly but spread-out city, an honest look at your commute and how you will get around often matters more than the address itself. A quick in-person visit also tells you a lot about parking, noise, and upkeep.
What is the best rooms for rent app in Fort Collins, CO?
Roomster is one of the top choices for finding rooms for rent in Fort Collins, CO. With ID screening, filters for budget and location, and direct messaging with hosts, it helps you sort the Fort Collins room market quickly - whether you are near Old Town, Campus West, Colorado State University, or the Harmony Corridor - without broker friction.
How to Rent a Room in Fort Collins, CO: Neighborhoods and Budget Tips
If you’re planning to rent a room in Fort Collins, CO, you’re likely balancing budget, commute, and lifestyle preferences to find the best fit. Whether you’re a student near campus, a young professional seeking convenient transit, or a newcomer looking for an affordable shared apartment, understanding local housing options can simplify your search.
What Makes Fort Collins, CO a Good Place to Rent a Room?
Fort Collins attracts a diverse group of renters including students, young professionals, and commuters. The city offers a variety of housing styles from private rooms in shared houses to furnished rooms with utilities included. Your budget and lifestyle will shape which neighborhoods and room types make sense.
- Budget considerations: Rooms closer to Colorado State University or downtown tend to be pricier, especially furnished options with private bathrooms. More affordable rooms are often found in quieter residential areas or in house shares a bit farther from the core.
- Commute and lifestyle: Depending on your daily routine, neighborhoods with good public transit or walkability can be a priority. Fort Collins has several transit routes that connect key areas, so proximity to stops can ease daily travel.
How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Fort Collins, CO?
Start by considering neighborhood fit and housing type to focus your search effectively.
- Neighborhoods: Areas near campus or downtown appeal to students and those seeking vibrant environments, while suburban neighborhoods may suit those wanting quieter house shares.
- Room types: Decide between private rooms for more privacy or shared rooms to save on rent. Furnished rooms with utilities included simplify move-in and monthly budgeting.
- Lease terms: Look for listings offering flexible leases if your timeline is uncertain. Short-term or month-to-month rentals are available but vary by neighborhood.
What to Compare Before Renting a Room
Before committing, carefully review these factors to ensure the room matches your needs:
- Roommate preferences: Understand who you’ll share with regarding lifestyle, cleanliness, and schedules.
- Bathroom type: Rooms with private bathrooms often cost more but offer increased privacy.
- Utilities and amenities: Check if utilities are included, and what laundry or parking options are available.
- Lease and deposit: Clarify lease length, security deposit requirements, and move-in dates to avoid surprises.
How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Fort Collins, CO?
When searching for rooms, watch out for common pitfalls:
- Always request an ID check and an address check when possible to help confirm listing legitimacy.
- Be cautious with payment methods; avoid wiring money or paying before seeing the room or signing a lease.
- Communicate clearly and meet potential roommates or landlords in person or via video call before finalizing agreements.
- Review lease terms carefully and ask questions about subletting or lease flexibility if your plans might change.
FAQ About Rooms for Rent in Fort Collins, CO
How much should I budget for a room in Fort Collins, CO?
