Zimmer zu vermieten | El Sobrante, CA, USA

Looking for a roommate for my 2 bedroom apartment. This is also on craigs list. Requirements from management: $40 application fee, copy of ID/passport, credit check(just to be sure you're reliable), $950 deposit. (This will be a month to month lease but hoping for someone long term) As much as I love them, NO pets. (I do have fish) Requirements from me: this is a shoes off home. If you can't respect that please, do not apply. This is also a 420 friendly home. About the apartment: it wont let me post more pictures but I can gladly send them over. We are on a main street so cars are constantly driving by. Neighbors are all pretty active also, if you're looking for a quite hole in the wall, this may not be the place for you. This apartment is on the second floor and we are above the parking lot so no one is below which is great. You can also see the parking lot through your bedroom window which can be comforting. (The balcony is also over the parking lot.) Trash day is Tuesday and it can be a rough start as they come in around 530am.. There are 2 washers and dryers downstairs that cost about 4.50 per load. Pge is typically around $60. $80-$100 during the cold season. And xfinity bill is about 146. We split both. Water and garbage are included in rent. The apartment is also very central. Take a right you're at the 24, take a left and you'll hit 80. Walgreens, Raleys, central foods, and lots of bars and restaurants near by. Wild cat canyon is just up the way also. The room itself is about 10 × 13. Expectations of you: Pay your bills on time. Management charges $200 late fee for rent. That's a big no thanks for me. Clean up after yourself. I don't mind sharing things as long as they are respected and returned. We split household chores for main areas. Kitchen, bathroom, living area, floors. Which are usually kept up nicely if we clean after ourselves. please message love lala 4 at y a h o o or text 510 830 660l. Blessings and happy home hunting

Room in Condo for Rent

Zimmer zu vermieten | Pierce Street, Albany, CA, USA

Hello all, starting September 1st I will have one bedroom for rent in my 2 bedroom condo in Albany, as my current roommate is moving out. The room includes your own private bathroom, as well as your own secured parking space in a parking garage attached. There is also extra closet space available so you have plenty of room to store your belongings. I am on the 12th floor and we get amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge, as included in the very last photos I uploaded below. It’s incredible at sunset! Rent for the room is $1500/mo plus PG&E (water and wifi are already paid for by HOA). The lease is for one year, and total move in cost would be $3000, along with a non-refundable $500 fee towards HOA (this is so that they can continue for water, wifi, and ensure that the elevators are running smoothly). As the room is in a condo, it does come with amenities. This includes: tennis courts outdoor pool rec room sauna gym The condo is conveniently located right between Albany Hill and 99 Ranch Market, and is a 15 minute walk to El Cerrito Plaza and El Cerrito Plaza BART. There is also amazing hiking trails in Albany Hill and there is a trail leading to the Albany Bulb which is about 20 mins away. There is also one cat living here, heads up. Pets are allowed, but only cats, as he is very afraid of other dogs, I apologize in advance for that. Pet deposit would be $200. Feel free to reach out to me with any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them. Looking forward to meeting each and every one of you 🙏🏻

  • How many rooms for rent are available in Richmond, CA right now?

Richmond is the East Bay's value play - a Bay Area city on BART and the ferry where rents sit below Oakland and Berkeley, so its room market runs on commuters, refinery and hospital workers, and people priced out of the inner East Bay. Roomster has 44 rooms for rent listed around the city, spread from the central Iron Triangle and the blocks near the Richmond BART station to the waterfront condos of Marina Bay and the older homes up in the Hilltop area. Richmond sits in Contra Costa County across ZIP codes 94801, 94804, 94805, and 94806, with 94801 covering the downtown and Point Richmond core.

  • How much does a room for rent in Richmond, CA cost per month?

Rooms here generally run $900 to $1,300 a month, steep by national standards but a real discount for the Bay Area, where a room in Berkeley or Oakland often runs $1,400 and up. You can find rooms under $1,000 a month in the Iron Triangle, Santa Fe, and the Coronado area, the older, more affordable neighborhoods near downtown, while rooms in Point Richmond or the newer Marina Bay condos ask more for the waterfront. Because so many renters here commute into San Francisco or Oakland, a furnished room within a walk of the Richmond BART station tends to hold its value and rent fast.

  • Which Richmond neighborhoods have the cheapest rooms for rent?

The value is in the central and southern flatlands. The Iron Triangle, Santa Fe, and the Coronado area, the older working neighborhoods around downtown and Macdonald Avenue, hold the cheapest rooms. Rooms cost more out on the water in Point Richmond, the historic hillside village by the tunnel, and in the Marina Bay condos built on the old Kaiser shipyard grounds. For a room you can pair with a car-free commute, focus on the blocks near the Richmond BART and Amtrak station downtown, where a single fare reaches Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco.

  • Can I find a room for rent near the Chevron refinery or Kaiser Richmond?

Yes, and the big local employers keep steady room demand. The Chevron Richmond Refinery, the city's largest employer, runs around the clock and draws operators, engineers, and trades workers on rotating shifts, and Kaiser Permanente's Richmond Medical Center staffs every shift too. Rooms in the central and northern neighborhoods put you closest to both. Because refinery and hospital work runs nights and weekends, say up front if you keep an odd schedule - a room where the household already works shifts is an easier fit. Filter by move-in date and how long you expect to stay.

  • Are Richmond rooms for rent near BART, or do I need a car?

Richmond is one of the better-connected spots in the outer East Bay, so a room here can work without a car. The Richmond station is the north end of two BART lines plus Amtrak's Capitol Corridor, running into Oakland, Berkeley, and downtown San Francisco, and the SF Bay Ferry crosses to the city in about 35 minutes from the Ford Point terminal on the Marina Bay waterfront. A room near downtown or Marina Bay puts those within reach. AC Transit buses fill in the rest, but out in the Hilltop or El Sobrante hills you will want a vehicle. Weigh a room near the station against a cheaper one that adds a long bus ride.

  • What should I check before renting a room in Richmond, CA?

Ask who is on the lease, which utilities are included, and whether you are a co-tenant or subletting. California tightened its deposit rules in 2024: a landlord can now take no more than one month's rent as a security deposit in most cases, and must return it within 21 days with an itemized list of any deductions. If your building predates 1995 and has multiple units, it may also fall under Richmond's local rent control, which caps yearly increases well below the market - worth asking about. Meet the household in person or on video, see the actual room, and never send a deposit to someone you have not met.

Essential Guide to Rent a Room in Richmond, CA

If you're planning to rent a room in Richmond, CA, this guide will help you make informed choices. Whether you're a student, a young professional, or new to the area, understanding how to evaluate private versus shared rooms, lease flexibility, and neighborhood options can simplify your search. Renting a room here involves balancing budget, commute, and lifestyle preferences to secure a space that suits your needs.

What Makes Richmond, CA a Good Place to Rent a Room

Richmond offers a range of room rental options including private rooms, shared apartments, and house shares, often with furnished and utilities-included choices. This variety supports renters seeking month-to-month or short term room rentals. Many look for convenient access to public transit and downtown to keep commutes manageable. The city’s diverse neighborhoods provide options catering to different budgets and lifestyles, making Richmond suitable for students, commuters, and professionals.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Richmond, CA

Focus your search on neighborhoods that offer a good balance between affordability and convenience. Areas with strong walkability or public transit connections to your school or workplace are especially valuable. Use filters to select room types—private rooms offer more privacy, while shared rooms can be more budget-friendly. Consider amenities such as laundry facilities and furnished rooms if you prefer a move-in ready space. Roomster’s search tools let you filter by move-in date and lease terms to align with your timing and flexibility needs.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room

Look closely at lease lengths, security deposit requirements, and whether utilities are included. Private rooms tend to cost more but provide greater privacy compared to shared rooms. If flexibility is important, explore sublet or short term rental options. Clarify move-in dates and house rules early to avoid misunderstandings. Listings with clear photos and detailed descriptions of both your room and shared areas help you understand your potential living environment.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Richmond, CA

Be cautious of listings requesting unusual payment methods or creating pressure to decide quickly. Take advantage of Roomster’s ID check and address check features to increase confidence during your search. Always arrange to meet potential roommates or landlords in safe, public locations before finalizing agreements. Keep communication on the Roomster platform when possible to maintain records. Avoid sharing sensitive documents prematurely and ensure lease terms are clearly written to protect yourself from scams or misunderstandings.
