East Ridge Rancher mins downtown

Комната для аренды | John Ross Road, Chattanooga, TN, USA

Hello all! I am looking for female roommates only. (Sorry men, I have just had better experiences overall with women.) I have 2 bedrooms up for rent. One is upstairs and it is the one that is fully furnished in the photos. I would prefer to keep it that way if possible so I don’t have to move anything out other than maybe the chairs, side tables etc, however I would do it, begrudgingly lol.The second bedroom is the basement bedroom. It’s quite large (larger than both upstairs rooms) with a decent semi walk-in closet and extremely small but full bathroom, shower only. It would have its own private entrance through the basement. Both have their own unique circumstances which I will be fully transparent about prior to any rental. This will be considered a “landlord-tenant” relationship vs “roommate” however this doesn’t allow me to list that way. Rental will be month to month so that way anyone that needs to leave, move, etc can do so quickly with a day notice, and not be locked in to 6 or more months at a time. The house is fully stocked so you will not need to supply any dishes etc. and you are welcome to have creative freedom inside your room, just no painting. I have 2 inside dogs that live here full time, both unfixed females. I prefer no more animals. (I may consider circumstantially). My boyfriend visits every weekend and stays with me Friday evening 5p and leaves Monday mornings. We are currently building a house together and hoping to have it finished before Christmas (fingers crossed) and we’ll be moving in there, so about months at most. If you want to discuss a different rental agreement after that point, I will be open to it as I’d like to continue renting at least until spring/summer. I am pretty laid back and quiet, looking for same. Preferably someone moderately friendly and clean. Happy to be friends, but not required! I’m fine with overnight guests, but they can’t live here, I don’t want a “couples” situation. References available!

  • How many rooms for rent are available in Chattanooga, TN right now?

Roomster currently shows 20 active rooms for rent across Chattanooga. That inventory spans Downtown, Northshore, Southside, St. Elmo, Highland Park, Brainerd, and Hixson, with renters often weighing commute to UTC, the Volkswagen plant, or downtown employers, monthly budget, and amenities. In a fast-growing gig city, rooms get claimed quickly when they include utilities, fast EPB fiber, a furnished setup, or an easy drive along US-27 or I-24.

  • What are the best Chattanooga neighborhoods to rent a room?

It depends on your commute and lifestyle. Downtown and Southside draw renters who want walkable access to Main Street breweries, the Riverwalk, and UTC. Northshore offers a trendy, walkable scene across the river near Coolidge Park, while St. Elmo brings historic charm at the foot of Lookout Mountain. East Brainerd, Hixson, and Ooltewah suit those who want newer housing and an easier drive to the Volkswagen plant.

  • How much does a room for rent cost in Chattanooga?

Across current Roomster listings, room rent in Chattanooga generally runs $550-$850/month depending on neighborhood, amenities, and the size of the shared home. Northshore, Southside, and Downtown can sit toward the higher end; Brainerd, East Lake, and older areas off Rossville Boulevard often stretch your budget further. Utilities included, a private bathroom, EPB gig internet, and furnished status usually explain most of the difference.

  • Can I find furnished or short-term rooms in Chattanooga?

Yes. Furnished and flexible-lease rooms appear regularly on Roomster, especially near UTC, Downtown, and the Volkswagen plant where students, remote workers drawn by gig internet, and contractors drive steady demand for move-in-ready space. Those listings frequently bundle utilities or WiFi. Just confirm what comes with the room - parking, furniture, laundry access, and lease length - before you sign.

  • What should I check before renting a room in Chattanooga?

In Chattanooga, weigh commute to UTC, the Volkswagen plant, or downtown, whether utilities and internet are included, laundry access, parking, pet rules, and the lease term before committing. Since the city is car-oriented, an honest look at your drive along I-24, US-27, Highway 153, or Brainerd Road often matters more than the address itself. A quick in-person visit also tells you a lot about noise and upkeep.

  • What is the best rooms for rent app in Chattanooga, TN?

Roomster is one of the top choices for finding rooms for rent in Chattanooga, TN. With ID screening, filters for budget and location, and direct messaging with hosts, it helps you sort the Chattanooga room market quickly - whether you are near UTC, Downtown, Northshore, or Southside - without broker friction.

Rent a Room in Chattanooga, TN: How to Choose the Right Neighborhood and Room Type

If you’re planning to rent a room in Chattanooga, TN, this guide will help you understand what to expect and how to find a space that fits your lifestyle and budget. Whether you’re a student, a young professional, or new to the city, Chattanooga offers a variety of rooms for rent—from private rooms with utilities included to flexible month-to-month rentals. Knowing how to balance privacy, commute, and lease flexibility will make your search smoother and more successful.

What Makes Chattanooga, TN a Good Place to Rent a Room?

Chattanooga appeals to renters looking for affordable housing options with a balance of urban convenience and relaxed neighborhoods. Rooms for rent here often come with different lease terms, including month-to-month and short-term sublets, which can suit students or professionals with changing schedules. Many listings include utilities, easing budgeting concerns. Depending on your daily commute or campus access needs, you’ll find rooms close to downtown or near public transit routes. This mix makes Chattanooga a practical choice for those seeking flexible, budget-conscious room rentals.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Chattanooga, TN?

Start by considering neighborhoods that match your lifestyle and budget. For example, if you prefer vibrant city life with easy downtown access, focus your search around central Chattanooga. If a quieter environment suits you better, look toward residential areas where house shares and room shares are common. Use filters for room type—private or shared—to match your privacy needs. Also, check if listings include utilities or are pet friendly, depending on your preferences. Prioritize listings with flexible lease terms if you need short stays or sublets.

  • Filter by lease flexibility such as month-to-month rentals.
  • Look for furnished or utilities-included rooms to simplify moving in.
  • Consider commute options using public transit or walkability near your work or school.
  • Check for pet-friendly rooms if applicable.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room in Chattanooga, TN?

When evaluating rooms, balance your budget with desired privacy and lease terms. Private rooms typically cost more but offer personal space, while shared rooms or house shares can be more affordable but require compromise on privacy. Lease terms vary widely—some landlords offer short-term sublets or month-to-month options, which provide flexibility but may require a higher security deposit. Confirm the move-in date to align with your schedule. Pay attention to roommate preferences and house rules to ensure a good living fit. Also, confirm if utilities are included in rent to avoid unexpected costs.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Chattanooga, TN?

Be cautious when communicating with landlords or roommates. Always request an ID check and address confirmation for the listing to ensure legitimacy. Avoid sending money before seeing the room or signing a lease. Meet potential roommates or landlords in person or via video call to discuss expectations and confirm details. Keep copies of all documents and receipts. Be clear about lease terms, deposits, and any house rules to avoid surprises. Using Roomster’s platform helps by providing tools for ID and address checks, which adds a layer of trust to your search.

FAQ About Rooms for Rent in Chattanooga, TN

How much should I budget for a room in Chattanooga, TN?

Ask about lease length, move-in date, utilities included, roommate preferences, pet policies, and any house rules. Clarify deposit requirements and cancellation terms.
