Furnished Bedroom w/ Bathroomm

Quarto para alugar | 14th Street, Santa Monica, CA, USA

Thanks for checking out our fully furnished primary bedroom that will be available mid-August. The room for rent is the primary bedroom of a three bedroom apartment. It has a giant closet space, and the room is fully furnished. I’m hoping to keep it furnished, but it may be an option to not, if you are looking for more of a clean slate. The room also includes a private bathroom with shower, and full sink and vanity area. The apartment has a space, shared kitchen, and living room area and a beautiful courtyard and community sun deck. Laundry is in the building and uses a credit for payment, and there is a gym on premises that can be added for a little bit extra each month. The room also comes with a parking pass. Street parking is permit only, so there is almost always a spot right out front. Current roommates both work from home. One is an actor, the other one works in sales. We we both mostly keep to ourselves, but love to hang out and grab a drink occasionally, and we host a small Poker night once a month, of which you would, of course be invited to join, but it would not be required. Hoping to find someone who is respectful, professional, and friendly. We are able to go month-to-month, but would love to find someone that plans to stay for the foreseeable future. Let me know if you would like to see the place in person, or through FaceTime or Zoom, and I will be happy to arrange either. Thank you again for checking out the post and let me know if you have any questions.

Perguntas frequentes

  • How many rooms for rent are available in Santa Monica, CA right now?

Santa Monica College enrolls more than 23,000 students and runs no dormitories at all, which is why the room market in this small coastal city behaves like campus housing for a college that never built any. Roomster has 27 rooms for rent posted here, across Pico, Mid-City, Sunset Park, Ocean Park, Downtown, and the Wilshire-Montana blocks. The city runs ZIP codes 90401 through 90405, and they map onto price almost perfectly: 90404 and 90405 inland are where the affordable rooms sit, 90402 north of Montana is where they do not.

  • How much does a room for rent in Santa Monica cost per month?

A private room generally runs $1,250 to $2,000 a month, and a furnished bed in a shared room near the college can go as low as $725 to $875 with utilities included. You can find rooms under $1,300 a month in Pico, Mid-City, and the streets around Santa Monica College, while a room in Ocean Park within walking distance of the beach, or anything north of Montana Avenue, sits at the top of the range. Weigh that against a Santa Monica studio averaging $2,160: a room is the only entry point under $2,000 in a city where the median asking rent is about $3,581.

  • Which Santa Monica neighborhoods have the cheapest rooms for rent?

Head inland and south. Pico and Mid-City, roughly the 90404 blocks around the 17th Street and Bergamot stations, hold the most affordable and the most plentiful rooms, and Sunset Park just south of the freeway is the cheapest of the recognized neighborhoods on a whole-unit basis. Ocean Park costs more for the walk to the sand, Downtown costs more for the Promenade and the train, and North of Montana is a different market entirely, where whole-home asking rents run into five figures and shared rooms barely exist. If price leads your search, start at Pico and work outward.

  • Can I rent a room in Santa Monica for less than 30 days?

Only under narrow rules, and this is where Santa Monica differs from every neighboring city. The city bans renting an entire unit for fewer than 30 days and has since 2015. What remains legal is home-sharing: a host who lives on site throughout your stay may rent out a bedroom short term, but only with a city permit and a 14 percent transient occupancy tax collected on the stay, with penalties up to $2,000 a day for hosts who skip it. The practical effect for you as a renter is that almost every genuine Santa Monica room listing is 30 days or longer, so plan on a monthly arrangement rather than a few weeks.

  • Are Santa Monica rooms for rent near the E Line, or do I need a car?

You can absolutely live here without a car, which is rare for the Westside. The Metro E Line ends in this city and gives it three stations: Downtown Santa Monica, 17th Street / Santa Monica College, and 26th Street / Bergamot, with trains roughly every 15 minutes and a ride of about 45 minutes to 7th Street / Metro Center in downtown Los Angeles. The city's own Big Blue Bus fills in everything the train misses, and the flat grid south of Wilshire is genuinely bikeable. Parking is the catch: much of the city is permit-only, so ask a prospective host whether the room includes a space or a resident permit before you say yes.

  • What should I check before renting a room in Santa Monica?

Ask who holds the lease. In a city where rent control anchors many long tenancies, you are often renting from a tenant rather than an owner, which makes you a subtenant with different standing, so get the arrangement in writing and find out whether the master tenant has permission to sublet. Check whether the rent includes the $10 a month registration fee that owners of controlled units may pass through. On the deposit, California caps it at one month's rent for most landlords and requires return within 21 days with an itemized statement and photographs behind any deduction. See the room in person or on video, and never send money before you do.

Rooms for Rent in Santa Monica, CA: How to Find the Right Fit

Finding rooms for rent in Santa Monica, CA can be a smart choice for students, young professionals, and commuters seeking flexible housing options near campus and transit. Whether you're considering a furnished room or a shared apartment, understanding local factors like budget, commute, and lease flexibility will help you find a room that fits your lifestyle and needs.

What Makes Santa Monica, CA a Good Place to Rent a Room

Santa Monica offers a variety of room rental options that appeal to different renters, including those looking for short term or sublet arrangements. Many renters prioritize proximity to public transit and campus access, especially students and commuters. The availability of utilities included rooms can simplify budgeting, while furnished rooms provide convenience for those with tight move-in timelines.

Budget-wise, rooms in Santa Monica tend to vary depending on the neighborhood and amenities, so it’s important to weigh privacy preferences—such as private versus shared rooms—against cost. Those who commute daily will benefit from targeting listings near transit hubs or main commute routes.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Santa Monica, CA

  • Focus on Neighborhoods: Consider areas offering easy access to your campus or workplace. This can reduce commute times and improve your daily routine.
  • Filter by Room Type: Decide if a private room or room share fits your comfort and budget. Shared apartments can offer lower costs but less privacy.
  • Check Lease Flexibility: Look for listings with month-to-month or short term options if you anticipate changes in your plans.
  • Utilities and Furnishings: Rooms that include utilities or come furnished can help simplify your move and monthly expenses.

Using filters for amenities like laundry, parking, or private bathrooms can also help pinpoint the best match for your lifestyle.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room

Before committing to a room, clarify key details such as move-in dates and lease terms. Confirm what deposits or security fees are required and understand the screening process, which may include an ID check or address confirmation. These steps help protect your interests and avoid surprises.

Compare private rooms to shared rooms carefully: private rooms often cost more but offer greater privacy, while shared rooms or sublets can be more affordable and flexible. Also, consider how utilities and internet costs are handled—whether included or separate.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Santa Monica, CA

  • confirm Listings Carefully: Use Roomster’s ID check and address check features to confirm the legitimacy of listings.
  • Be Cautious with Payments: Avoid wiring money before meeting a landlord or roommate in person and reviewing the lease.
  • Communicate Clearly: Discuss expectations around roommates, guests, and shared responsibilities upfront to prevent misunderstandings.
  • Review Lease Details: Understand cancellation policies and lease flexibility to avoid penalties if your plans change.
