Target move in: July 2026 | Ideal rent: $500 - $800 per monthHello! I’m Lily, and I’m a lab manager at UGA in the entomology/ecology departments. I’m hoping to find a lease that starts sometime in July (or very early August). I’m looking for a housemate to share a two bedroom apartment with me (I don’t have one yet though). I’m looking at Cambridge apartments, but am definitely open to other options. I would like to move in as soon as I can, or at the end of July at the latest. Mainly it would need to be no smoking, and cat friendly. I might have a friendly tuxedo cat named Walter living with me, and if not, I would like to adopt a cat. He is indoor outdoor, but if I adopted another cat they would be indoor only. What I’m looking for:I’m a bit of an introvert, and will need a lot of down time in my room, but I would love to become friends with my housemate if possible! I love to quietly share space too, when we’re both up for it.A bit about me: In my free time I like to go hiking and look for cool insects and flowers in the woods. I also go to regular salsa and contra dances. I love animals, and volunteer at Sweet Olive Farm when I have time. My decorating style consists of various colorful art and animal pictures on the walls. I also have pet leaf insects - they are very chill and just hang out on their leaves. They would stay in their enclosure in my room, unless you want to see them.Typical schedule:I cook at home sometimes, usually once or twice per week, and try to meal prep a bit. But mostly I eat a lot of rice from my rice cooker. I work 9 or 10am to 6 or 7pm Monday - Thursday. I don’t generally work on Fridays, and if I do it’s often from home. To wind down I like to read or watercolor paint or draw. My pet peeve is very strongly scented perfumes, but other than that I can pretty much go with the flow. If you're interested in finding housing together, let me know!

How many people are looking for roommates in Athens, GA right now?
Roomster's roommate finder currently shows 78 active roommate profiles in the Athens market. That pool includes people targeting Downtown, the Milledge Avenue corridor, Five Points, Normaltown, Boulevard, and the Eastside, because roommate searches here follow the UGA academic calendar, walk or bus access to campus, and rent budget more than strict neighborhood lines.
Which Athens areas are best for finding a roommate?
For shared housing, many renters start near Downtown and the Milledge Avenue corridor for walkable, student-friendly living close to UGA. Five Points and Normaltown attract those who want established neighborhoods with local character. Boulevard and Cobbham suit renters who like historic homes near downtown, while the Eastside and Westside pull people who want more space and value. Proximity to UGA, Athens Transit routes, and the Athens Perimeter usually drives the search more than neighborhood labels.
How much do roommates in Athens typically pay?
In Athens's shared housing market, typical roommate rent ranges from $550-$900/month per person, depending heavily on neighborhood and home size. A two-bedroom split 50/50 near Downtown or Five Points might run $1,300-$1,650 total, meaning each roommate pays $650-$825. A similar split on the Eastside or Westside could be $1,100-$1,400 total, or $550-$700 per person - a meaningful monthly difference for students and early-career renters.
What should I put in my Athens roommate profile?
A strong Athens roommate profile clearly lists your rent budget, move-in date, neighborhood preferences, campus or work commute, pet situation, and study or work schedule (e.g., "UGA junior, quiet during exams, near Five Points" or "grad researcher, early schedule, walk to campus"). In this market, practical fit and lease timing usually matter more than lifestyle copy, which is why a detailed roommate finder profile tends to get better responses.
How do I know a roommate in Athens is who they say they are?
Roomster profiles include ID and address screening, so you can browse the roommate finder with more confidence. Still, always communicate through the platform first, video chat before committing, and schedule an in-person walkthrough of the place. This is especially wise in a college town like Athens, where turnover is high each semester and rental scams do exist.
What is the best roommate finder app in Athens, GA?
Roomster works well as a roommate finder in Athens when you use filters for budget, move-in date, and preferred neighborhoods or bus routes. That matters in a market where Downtown, the Milledge corridor, Five Points, Normaltown, and the Eastside can all feel like valid options depending on your class schedule, job, and how close you want to be to UGA.
