Room for Rent in Entire Home

Lugar completo | Daphne, AL, USA

Hello! I am looking for a roommate. I prefer a working professional (like myself) or a student who is dedicated to their studies. I am renting out one of the bedrooms in my home. This is essentially like renting out a home; I am not in this home many months of the year due to my work. This room can come furnished or unfurnished- your choice. This is a PRIVATE master suite with your own adjoined bathroom, in addition to your own small private kitchen with a fridge, sink, microwave, and coffee maker outside of your room. You are welcome to use the main kitchen as well, but the kitchen outside of the room is exclusively yours. It is truly JUST like an apartment- without the high cost. Further, adjoined to the living room is a beautiful outdoor deck to enjoy your coffee, read, etc. I travel for work often, so I will not rent to anyone or consider anyone who will not undergo a background check and provide references. The room is enormous with more than enough closest space (3 closets!) The suite is on the 2nd floor of the home. Rent does not include electric & water. 1 parking space in garage and high-speed internet is included in rent. NO smokers, drinkers, nor party people (roommate is a very hard-working scientist). I would prefer NO animals, however will consider a small dog or small cat. You will have all the benefits of the neighborhood available to you- and believe me, there are many: 3 pools, gym, tennis courts, golf course, walking paths, beautiful scenery. This is a very safe neighborhood with many benefits! Background check, references, security deposit, are required. Please DM me for private showing- serious inquiries ONLY. 1 month lease to begin, will extend to a 6-month or to year-long after 1st month. Thanks!

  • How many apartments for rent are available in New Orleans right now?

Roomster currently has 17 apartments for rent in New Orleans - studios and 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units spread across French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, Uptown, Garden District, and Mid-City. New listings go up regularly as professionals, students, and creatives relocate to the city. It's worth checking back if nothing fits on the first pass, especially during summer peak moving season.

  • What are the most affordable neighborhoods to rent an apartment in New Orleans?

Marigny, Bywater, and Mid-City consistently offer better value for budget-conscious renters. Studios and 1-bedrooms in those areas tend to run $900-$1,300/month - noticeably less than French Quarter or Uptown. Marigny and Bywater in particular are popular because they're affordable, vibrant, and attract young professionals and musicians. Most landlords are welcoming to first-time New Orleans renters and newcomers.

  • How much does it cost to rent an apartment in New Orleans, LA?

It depends on neighborhood and unit size. A studio in Marigny or Mid-City starts around $900-$1,200/month. A 1-bedroom in Bywater or near universities runs closer to $1,200-$1,400. Move to French Quarter or Uptown - and a 1-bedroom rarely lands under $1,300. Most Roomster listings show whether utilities are included, which shifts the real cost. New Orleans's cultural appeal and steady tourism mean quality apartments lease at good rates.

  • Are furnished or flexible-lease apartments for rent in New Orleans available?

Yes, and they move fast - especially in French Quarter, Marigny, and Uptown, where New Orleans musician relocations and tourism industry workers drive demand for move-in-ready spaces. Furnished listings typically include a bed, sofa, kitchen basics, and WiFi. Many New Orleans landlords specifically market flexible leases for musicians and transient professionals. Use the furnished filter on Roomster to pull only those listings or mention your relocation timeline.

  • Can I find pet-friendly apartments for rent in New Orleans?

You can, though options vary by neighborhood. New Orleans landlords are mixed on pets - some buildings ban them, others allow cats but not dogs, and a handful welcome both. Marigny, Bywater, and Mid-City areas tend to have more pet-friendly options, particularly in smaller buildings or houses with outdoor space or courtyards. The pet-friendly filter on Roomster only returns listings where the owner has confirmed pets are welcome.

  • What is the best site to find apartments for rent in New Orleans?

Roomster is one of the top options for finding apartments for rent in New Orleans. With direct contact to landlords, no broker fees, filters for budget and neighborhood preferences, profile screening, and support for students and professionals, it helps you find the right apartment in French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, Uptown, or anywhere across New Orleans without the friction of traditional apartment hunting.

Rent an Apartment in New Orleans, LA: How to Balance Commute, Budget, and Lease Terms

Searching to rent an apartment in New Orleans, LA can be rewarding if you know how to balance your priorities. Whether you're a professional, a couple, or relocating, understanding how commute, budget, and lease terms fit together will help you find a place that truly works. This guide is designed to clarify what to expect and consider as you explore apartments in this vibrant city.

What Kind of Apartment Search Makes Sense in New Orleans, LA

New Orleans offers a variety of apartment types, from studios to one and two-bedroom units, often with options for furnished or unfurnished spaces. Professionals and commuters typically prioritize apartments near public transit routes or with easy drive access to downtown to reduce commute times. Couples and relocating renters may seek larger one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments with amenities like in-unit laundry or parking. Budget-wise, apartments with utilities included can simplify monthly expenses but may cost more upfront. Month-to-month and sublet options provide lease flexibility, especially for those uncertain about long-term plans.

How to Compare Apartments for Rent in New Orleans, LA

When comparing apartments, consider neighborhood fit carefully. Depending on your lifestyle, some areas offer quieter residential vibes, while others provide quick access to work hubs and public transit. Look for apartments near transit stops if walkability and commute convenience matter. Evaluate the lease terms for each listing, noting if sublets or short-term leases are available. Check for features like laundry facilities, parking availability, and whether utilities are included. These factors can influence both comfort and cost.

What Lease and Budget Factors Matter Most

Budgeting for an apartment in New Orleans involves more than the monthly rent. Security deposits, application fees, and lease length all affect your upfront and ongoing costs. Lease terms vary widely: some landlords offer month-to-month leases, while others require longer commitments. If you prefer flexibility, prioritize listings advertising short-term or sublet options. Be mindful that flexible leases might come with slightly higher rent or deposits. Screening processes may include an ID check and application review, so having your documents ready can speed up approval.

How to Avoid Costly Rental Mistakes

Be cautious when submitting applications or payments. Avoid sending money before meeting the landlord or thoroughly reviewing the lease agreement. Use listings that include an ID check or address check to help confirm the legitimacy of the property. Communicate clearly and keep records of conversations and agreements. When possible, visit the apartment in person or arrange a virtual tour. These steps help reduce the risk of scams and ensure you understand exactly what you’re committing to.
