Active Duty with a Pup

Δωμάτιο προς ενοικίαση | Congaree Court North, Jacksonville, FL, USA

I'm an active-duty military looking for a reliable roommate to rent a room in my home. The house is clean, quiet, and would be a great fit for someone who values a peaceful living environment. A few things about the living situation: I serve on active duty and deploy periodically, so there may be times when I'm away for extended periods. I have a friendly Labradoodle who is an important part of the household. I'm looking for someone who is comfortable around dogs and willing to help care for him while I'm away on deployments or temporary assignments. This would include basic day-to-day care such as feeding, walks, and companionship. I'm looking for someone responsible, respectful, and financially stable who will help maintain a clean and drama-free household. Non-smoker preferred (if applicable). Access to common areas, kitchen, laundry, and other amenities included. Ideal for another military , professional, student, or anyone looking for a comfortable and stable place to live. A dog lover is strongly preferred given the care responsibilities involved. If you're interested, send me a message with a little information about yourself, your work schedule, any experience caring for dogs, and what you're looking for in a living situation.

Looking for reliable tenants!!

Δωμάτιο προς ενοικίαση | Wilderland Drive, Jacksonville, FL, USA

I’m a Yankee through and through. Born and raised in NY! So I do not have a filter. I’m straight forward and to the point. With that being said….Let me start off by saying if you do not have a profile set up I am not going to respond!! I have to be able to read about you to see if I think we would mesh and could live in the same house!! I have a dog and a cat. They are both extremely friendly. But if you are not an animal lover this isn’t for you. There’s 2 living rooms a Dining room and Kitchen. A large fenced yard also a nice driveway. On one side of the house is the 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. I have the Master bed and Bath. The room is $ s-e-v-e-n hundred per mo. A dog may be accepted but we would have to discuss it and our dogs would need to meet! There would also be a non-refundable pet deposit. I babysit my niece and nephew often on Fri nights. So you would have to be able to handle kids one night a week, maybe two during summer. I think I’ve covered it but if not and you have any questions please feel free to contact me. So you know I work Sun thru Thurs s-i-x-am to s-i-x-pm, so please don’t expect a response during those hours, so you guys know! Thank you!!

  • How much does a room for rent in Jacksonville, FL typically cost?

Room rentals in Jacksonville generally range from $500 to $900 per month for a private room in a shared house or apartment. Affordable areas like Arlington, Jacksonville Heights, and Southwest Jacksonville tend to come in under $700, while Riverside, San Marco, and Southside often run $750–$950.

  • Which Jacksonville neighborhoods have the most rooms for rent?

Springfield, Arlington, Southside, and Riverside tend to have the highest volume of shared room listings. Neighborhoods around NAS Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport also have strong availability — many landlords there are familiar with the needs of service members.

  • Are there furnished rooms for rent in Jacksonville?

Yes — many listings include furnished rooms with utilities included. This is especially common near UNF, FSCJ campuses, and in areas popular with military renters who need a quick move-in without hauling furniture across state lines.

  • Can I find short-term or month-to-month room rentals in Jacksonville?

Short-term and flexible lease arrangements are available across Jacksonville, particularly in the Southside, Beaches area, and neighborhoods near universities. Search by move-in date and lease length to filter your options.

  • What is the best rooms for rent app in Jacksonville, FL?

Roomster is one of the top options for finding rooms for rent in Jacksonville, FL. With profile screening, photo ID checks, and filters for budget, location, and move-in date, it's built to match the right renters with the right rooms.

Rent a Room in Jacksonville, FL: Which Neighborhood Fits Your Budget and Lifestyle?

If you're planning to rent a room in Jacksonville, FL, you’re likely weighing options on location, budget, and lifestyle. Whether you’re a student, young professional, or someone seeking a flexible living arrangement, Jacksonville offers a variety of rooms for rent ranging from private spaces to shared apartments. This guide helps you understand the realities of room rentals here, so you can make informed decisions that suit your needs.

What Makes Jacksonville, FL a Good Place to Rent a Room?

Jacksonville appeals to renters looking for diverse living options and a balance between urban convenience and suburban comfort. Many renters appreciate the city's access to downtown Jacksonville, where work and entertainment hubs are located, as well as neighborhoods that offer quieter, more affordable housing. Your budget and lifestyle—whether you prioritize proximity to public transit, parking availability, or access to laundry facilities—will shape which areas fit best.

With options like month-to-month leases and rooms with utilities included, Jacksonville’s rental scene is flexible enough to accommodate short-term stays or longer commitments. This flexibility can be especially valuable if you’re seeking a sublease room or a furnished shared apartment.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Jacksonville, FL?

Choosing where to focus your search can make a big difference. Consider neighborhoods based on commute times, local amenities, and lifestyle fit. For instance, areas closer to downtown Jacksonville offer easier access to jobs and nightlife, but may come with higher rents and limited parking. Suburban neighborhoods might provide more affordable options and private rooms with laundry access.

When filtering listings, pay attention to:

  • Bathroom type: Private bathrooms add convenience, while shared bathrooms might lower costs.
  • Utilities included: Rooms that bundle utilities can simplify budgeting.
  • Move-in date flexibility: Month-to-month or short term rentals can offer more freedom.

Using these practical filters on Roomster can help you find a room that matches your priorities, whether it’s a sublease room in Jacksonville, FL or a shared apartment with friends.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room

Before committing, it’s important to weigh the trade-offs between private and shared rooms. Private rooms generally offer more privacy and control over your space but can be pricier. Shared rooms or apartment shares are usually more budget-friendly and foster social connections but require flexibility and clear communication with roommates.

Also consider lease terms, security deposits, and screening requirements. While Jacksonville rentals often require an ID check and address confirmation, terms can vary, so always clarify these details early. Budget cautiously and factor in additional costs like parking fees if applicable.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Jacksonville, FL?

Staying safe and avoiding scams is crucial when renting a room. Always confirm the legitimacy of the listing and the landlord or roommate. Roomster listings often include ID check and address check features that can add a layer of confidence.

Be cautious with payments: never wire money or pay in cash without a formal lease agreement. Arrange in-person or virtual meetings to discuss the room and meet potential roommates before signing anything. Keeping communication on Roomster’s platform can help protect your interests.
