Private Room in Lakeview East

Δωμάτιο προς ενοικίαση | West Belmont Avenue, North Side, Chicago, IL, USA

Roommate wanted! I am looking for someone to become my new roommate in a 2 bed 1 bath apartment in Lakeview East! Move in date is May 31st, with slight flexibility. The lakefront, Belmont CTA stop, great bus lines, Mariano’s, Walgreens, and a ton of good restaurants are all within easy walking distance. The apartment is on the 13th floor of a new high rise and has a doorman for security, shared laundry, and a gym. We have a dishwasher, heated floors, and window AC units. There is a covered parking spot in a garage that’s attached to the building available for just $150 a month. The view from the living room is awesome. It has a panoramic view of Lakeview, with tons of natural light! The common space comes fully furnished. All you need is things for your room. I have kitchen essentials including appliances like my beloved kitchenaid but we could maybe use more if you have anything. Monthly rent for the one year lease is $1,250 per person and most utilities are included (except for electric- it’s not much though). About me: I’m Ari! I’m 29 and I’ve been in the Chicago area my whole life. This will be my fourth year in the building and I know a ton of great spots in the neighborhood. I love being goofy around the house and keeping things fun. I enjoy hosting friends to hang out sometimes. I’m really into board games, and I’m an avid baker, so expect to try some treats! Check out my Insta @bundt_ari if you want to see what you’re in for 👀 I hope to be friends with anyone I live with. I’m always down for a game or movie night, or a fun field trip like a concert or barcade. A little about you/what I’m looking for in a roomie:- Age 26-33- Willing to share chores - Clean and organized - Respectful of shared spaces - Bonus points for liking games!

  • How many rooms for rent are available in Chicago, IL?

Roomster currently has 277 rooms for rent across Chicago — from budget shares in Rogers Park and Pilsen to furnished private rooms in Wicker Park and Lincoln Park. Listings are updated daily, so if nothing fits right now it's worth checking back or setting a search alert.

  • What are the cheapest neighborhoods to rent a room in Chicago?

For the most affordable rooms in Chicago, Rogers Park, Pilsen, Bridgeport, Englewood, and Gage Park consistently come up. Shared rooms in those areas run roughly $600–$900/month, and private rooms can often be found under $1,000. Rogers Park in particular is popular with budget renters — it sits on the Red Line, has dense housing stock, and regularly turns up 2- and 3-bedroom splits where per-person rent stays very manageable.

  • How much does a room for rent cost in Chicago, IL?

It depends primarily on neighborhood. A room in Rogers Park, Bridgeport, or Pilsen typically runs $700–$950/month. Move to Wicker Park, Logan Square, or Bucktown and expect $950–$1,300/month. Rooms in Lincoln Park, Lakeview, or near the Loop land between $1,200–$1,800/month. Most Chicago room rentals split utilities separately — budget an extra $60–$100/month for heat, electricity, and internet. Some listings fold utilities in, so always check what's included before comparing prices.

  • Can I find furnished rooms for rent in Chicago?

Yes — furnished rooms are most common in Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wicker Park, and River North, where demand from people relocating for work keeps that segment active. A typical furnished room in Chicago includes a bed, desk, and kitchen basics; many also cover WiFi and sometimes heat. Use the furnished filter on Roomster to pull only those listings — it saves a lot of back-and-forth with landlords over what's actually included.

  • Are there pet-friendly rooms for rent in Chicago?

Yes, though the selection is narrower than standard rooms. Chicago landlords vary widely on pet policies — some buildings prohibit animals entirely, others allow cats but not dogs. Logan Square, Wicker Park, Bucktown, and Rogers Park tend to have the most pet-welcoming options, especially in Chicago's greystones and two-flats with outdoor space. The pet-friendly filter on Roomster shows only rooms where the host has specifically confirmed pets are welcome — no need to ask each landlord individually.

  • What is the best site to find rooms for rent in Chicago?

Roomster is the top-rated site for finding rooms for rent in Chicago. Every listing goes through ID and address screening before going live — which matters in a city where ghost listings and rental scams are a recurring problem. With over 10 million downloads and rooms across every Chicago neighborhood from Rogers Park to Hyde Park, Roomster gives renters the widest selection with the strongest trust signals of any platform. Filters for price, move-in date, furnished status, and pet policy get you to the right room faster.

Rooms for Rent in Chicago, IL: Budget-Savvy Tips to Find Your Next Room

If you're searching for rooms for rent in Chicago, IL, this guide is tailored to help you navigate your options efficiently. Whether you're a student, young professional, or someone relocating, understanding how to find a room that fits your budget and lifestyle is key. From private rooms to shared apartments, we'll cover essential tips so you can rent a room in Chicago, IL with confidence.

What Makes Chicago, IL a Good Place to Rent a Room

Chicago offers diverse neighborhoods that cater to various lifestyles and budgets. Many renters look for rooms near downtown for easy access to work and entertainment, while others prefer areas with strong public transit connections or quieter residential streets. Depending on your commute and social preferences, Chicago's mix of shared apartments and private rooms can accommodate short term stays or longer leases.

Budget-wise, rooms with utilities included can help simplify monthly expenses. Students often seek rooms near campuses, while professionals might prioritize proximity to public transit and downtown access to reduce commute times.

How to Narrow Down Rooms for Rent in Chicago, IL

Start by focusing on neighborhoods that align with your budget and commute needs. Popular areas with shared apartments include neighborhoods close to public transit lines, which make daily travel easier. Consider if you want a private room or a shared room, and whether utilities included in rent fit your financial planning.

  • Filter listings by move-in date to match your schedule.
  • Use Roomster’s search tools to specify preferences like short term room rental or sublet options.
  • Look for listings mentioning roommate preferences to find compatible housemates.

These filters help you avoid wasting time on unsuitable rooms and focus on options that fit your lifestyle.

What to Compare Before Renting a Room

When comparing rooms for rent in Chicago, IL, consider lease terms, budget, and the type of bathroom (private or shared). Short term room rentals or subleases can offer flexibility, but check if they come with utilities included to avoid surprise costs.

Make sure to clarify roommate preferences and house rules upfront to ensure a good fit. Also, confirm the move-in date and lease length to avoid last-minute changes.

How to Avoid Common Room Rental Mistakes in Chicago, IL

Room rental scams can happen, so it's important to stay cautious. Always use Roomster’s ID check and address check features when available to confirm listing legitimacy. Never send payments without signing a lease or meeting the landlord or roommates in person or via video call.

Keep communication on official platforms and document all agreements. Avoid listings that pressure you to pay quickly or provide personal information too early.
