We would share the common areas as the kitchen, three seasons porch, living room and laundry room. Otherwise I would be staying in the downstairs bedroom to elevate your privacy needs. I have a 10 year old coon hound that is very friendly and well socialized with kids and well socialized cats. There are no cases of food aggression and has never bitten another person.
