Greetings! My name is Alan, and I am a -year old JUST retired Retirement/Financial Advisor. As well, I am a retired, career U.S. Marine from my 'younger years'. I have lived in south Orange County for years (minus my MANY forward-deployments) and absolutely love our little paradise here. I am still deeply involved with the United States Naval Institute, Marine Corps Aviation Association and Marine/Naval Veterans Groups and write for/attend those conferences and symposiums regularly. I am looking for a quiet, easy-going place to spend the next two & half years until my daughter graduate's university, at which time I will be 'fully' retiring back to Iowa where I grew up. On a personal note; I am an avid cyclist, hiker, and love reading (mostly international history) and then traveling to the places I study. I love immersing myself foreign cultures and learning their traditions & customs, history, food, etc.. Trust me, as forward-deployed Marine and also a civilian traveler; I have seen the absolute worst of human nature but also the very best. I am a calm, clear communicator, whether that be in conversation or problem-solving and have been described by my peers as, gregarious, caring, and loyal to a fault. I am a Thyroid/neck cancer survivor and spend a lot of time at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital staying vigilant with my health.
