$1,335 per month 1-year firm commitment. The room is available August 1-15 or Sept 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. This includes all utilities (electrical, water, heat, trash), wifi, laundry, and once a month professional house cleaning! Central Berkeley, a quiet, garden setting set far back from the street walk score of 83. We are centrally located a 10–15 minute walk to downtown, BART, and Trader Joe’s, a 10-minute walk to the Hidden Cafe, The house stands high up so the room feels airy, upstairs with a lot of natural light and a huge skylight that can open and close. Furnished with a double bed, dresser, desk, and night table, and the window has a view of redwoods in the garden. Common rooms are spacious and you are welcome to use them, with lots of natural light and a piano in the living room. The dining room table sits 6–8, and the kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, large stove, blender, Cuisinart, toaster, rice cooker, and microwave. You have use of the washer and dryer on the ground-level basement floor, you can wheel bicycles inside for dry and safe storage, and the garden has a wifi connection, a BBQ, benches, and a table and chairs so we can enjoy the outdoors almost all year round.
House Culture:
You will be sharing with graduate students and me, a busy retired landscape designer who owns and lives here as a fellow housemate. We sometimes share meals and like conversations, but are pretty busy, creating a nice rhythm of solo and shared time in the house. Chores are shared equitably and are part and parcel of living together in a shared household. Three or four times a year, as a household there is a Garden Work Party where all participate and lunch is served, unless you like gardening more, like I do!
I'm afraid I cannot have any pets at this time.We are 5 in all with well laid out rooms and two full baths with large hot water tank. Am happy to set up an initial zoom house tour or in person if in the area. Looking forward to hearing from you.
