Looking for place/people near Orono

This seems unreasonably difficult to navigate.
I am in the interviewing process for a position at the university of Maine and looking for reliable, stable people to share a place with. If I get the position, I will likely start in November, moving from Southwest Virginia. I am also a photographer on the side, doing freelance work and selling my art prints at festivals. Some amount of storage space is necessary, so a house is my ideal living situation.

I have an ~ year old cat named Pixel who will be coming with me. She is exclusively indoors, so I am looking for people comfortable with cats are situationally aware and mindful of things like open doors or windows. Pixel is a social girl and likes other people, but keeps her distance from other cats. She can stay closed in my room if need be, but she would be happy to socialize.

I am a fairly social person and have missed having friendly living arrangements with other like-minded people, but I also often disappear for lengths of time to edit photos. I love music and would be excited to be able to set up my turntable again and listen to music with people on a Friday night. I'm definitely a "Ghost of Tom Joad" kind of person. If you understand what this means, we'd probably get along well. is fine, although I don't participate. I have a strong preference not to share a home with tobacco users. I cook my meals, and I clean up after myself as I do. A clean kitchen is important. I also believe compassion and communication are important qualities.

My ideal location would be a house out in an wooded area so I can have weekend fires in a fire pit. I prefer seeing trees and animals outside my window rather than buildings and people, and I'm perfectly happy with an old house as long as it's been decently maintained.
